AssetWise Director Help

To Manually Register a ProjectWise Document

This task assumes that you have already synchronized the monitored folder to create the document list, and that the document(s) in that folder were not automatically registered as part of the synchronization.
  1. Open the Explore tab (View > Explore).
  2. Click the ProjectWise icon .
  3. Expand your datasource until you find the folder containing the document you want to register.

Assuming the selected folder has been synchronized, it shows the current list of documents that exist in the same folder in ProjectWise.

Documents that are not registered in the community have a transparent notepad icon.

Documents that are already registered in the community have a regular notepad icon.

  4. Right-click a document that has not already been registered and select Register Enterprise Document.
  5. In the dialog that opens, select Reference or Move and click OK.

Reference will create a copy of the document in the community that references the original document in ProjectWise, so that it can be synchronized and kept up-to-date in the community. The registered document does not contain a copy of the original file; instead, the Files topic contains a reference to the original file in ProjectWise.

Move will create a copy of the document in the community and then delete the original document from ProjectWise. The file that was attached to the original document is moved into the community and added to the registered document.

Note: A ProjectWise document can have (only) one file attached to it, or it can be a placeholder document with no file attached. You can only register a ProjectWise document with no file attached, using the "Reference" registration mode.
ProjectWise has a concept of a version that is similar to a revision in AssetWise. The ProjectWiseUseProjectWiseVersioning setting controls AssetWise behavior, when document in ProjectWise has versions.

If the setting is set to "NO", then when a ProjectWise document has versions, registering a document will only register the active version of the document.

If the setting is set to "YES", then when a ProjectWise document has versions, registering a document will register all versions of the document.
